Keynotes – Michelle Kassorla and Eugenia Novokshanova

Michelle Kassorla, Ph.D., an Associate Professor at Georgia State University, Perimeter College, has more than 30 years experience teaching English and Composition. She teaches with AI in Composition I and II courses, integrating AI into assignments every week this academic year. She served on the EDUCAUSE AI Expert Panel, and was the principle author for “AI Literacy in Teaching and Learning: A Durable Framework for Higher Education.” A recipient of a Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Online Education fellowship, she published “Teaching with GAI in Mind,” in EDUCAUSE Review and co-authors a textbook and papers with Eugenia Novokshanova. She’s a Co-Principal Investigator in the “Perceptions of AI” study at GSU. She shares her insights on LinkedIn and her blog, The Academic Platypus. As a mother of eight boys, she’s continually inspired to excel.
Eugenia Novokshanova, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of English at Georgia State University, Perimeter College. She is a Multimodal Writing AI specialist, holding a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from Georgia State University, where her focus was on multimodal writing studies. A Dean’s Fellow in Writing with AI, she has 25 years of experience teaching Freshman Composition and ESL at GSU. With a Master’s degree in Teaching English and German Languages from Omsk State Pedagogical University, Russia, she focused her early studies on how similarities in grammatical structures between a learner’s first and second languages influence second language acquisition. Collaborating with Dr. Kassorla on the “Multimodal AI Project,” Dr. Novokshanova investigates how integrating AI, multimodality, and digital writing tools into Freshman Composition courses at GSU affects student performance and perceptions of the writing process.
Dr. Kassorla will present their keynote address, Friend, Tool, or Trouble? Striking a Balance with AI in the Classroom.
Closing – Joseph Moxley

Joseph M. Moxley, Ph.D., is a Professor of English at the University of South Florida whose current research explores how AI is reshaping writing, teaching, and creativity, with a focus on ethical engagement and the future of human agency. His books focus on the intersections of rhetoric, technology, and human agency. He is the founder of Writing Commons, an award-winning, peer-reviewed, open educational resource (OER) recognized with the John Lovas Award from Kairos. He also founded My Reviewers (now USF Writes), an NSF-supported research project designed to facilitate meaningful feedback, peer review, and writing program assessment. Dr. Moxley is also a cofounder of The Journal of Writing Analytics.
We look forward to his closing address, Human Agency and Voice in the Shadow of Superintelligence.
