In celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday, Webcourses@UCF Support will close Thursday, November 24 through Saturday, November 26. We will reopen for support on Sunday, November 27.

Registration has begun for Spring 2023. Help your potential students be better informed about your course by using the “Syllabus Preview” option in the Faculty Webcourse Manager (FWM). If a teacher opts to do so, content from the Syllabus tool in Webcourses@UCF is made available to students in the Class Detail page. Information such as synchronous meeting times, course modality, and technology requirements can help students be better prepared for your class. Note, your displayed syllabus is only visible to students who have signed into myUCF to use the Course Search tool.

The Quiz feature in Webcourses@UCF can be an effective tool for exams and quizzes. Below are a few notable features instructors can use when designing summative assessments.

• Shuffle Answers – You can randomize (shuffle) answers so that students don’t see them in the same order.
• One Question at a Time – You can show one question at a time and lock questions after answering. 
• Question Groups - You to randomly draw questions from a pool of questions so students don’t all get the same set of questions. 
• Time Limits - You can set a time limit by which students must complete the entire quiz. Timed quizzes begin once a student begins the exam and will not be paused if the student navigates away from the quiz. An unfinished timed quiz will be automatically submitted when the time limit expires.

Learn how to record video and audio directly into a Webcourses@UCF Page, Announcement, Discussion, Quiz, and Syllabus. If you have a caption file, this video will show you how to upload it to your video.

There is nothing notable in the Canvas updates for November. The next scheduled release will be December 17, 2022.

UCF’s migration to New Quizzes has been paused while we wait for the vendor to incorporate what we feel are necessary features and functionality for faculty and students. Webcourses@UCF Support is offering two workshops to explain what's happening and help faculty with migrating their courses to New Quizzes.

• Tuesday, November 22, 10-11am - In-person Session
• Friday, December 2, 2-3pm - Online Session

The Faculty Multimedia Center (FMC) is offering Panopto Orientations on the following dates for faculty interested in using the platform.

• Wednesday, December 14, 9-10am
• Thursday, December 15, 3-4pm
• Friday, December 16, Noon-1pm
• Monday, January 2, 9-10am
• Tuesday, January 3, Noon-1pm

The FMC is in CB1-Room 202. Each session is one hour with time for Q&A afterwards.  If you would like to attend, please email the Faculty Multimedia Center at fmc@ucf.edu.
