Grading Tips
End of Semester Grading Help
Some useful end of the semester grading tips:
Set a default grade of zero for all those missing assignments. This will get the students’ attention and ensure an accurate final grade.
Look at the Gradebook History; it's a read-only log that allows you to see who graded each artifact. Options are available to filter grading history by student, grader, artifact, and date.
Export the grades from the Gradebook and download them as a CSV file. The Gradebook CSV assignment columns display in the same order as shown in the Gradebook for an individual user.

Recognizing Faculty Who Teach Exemplary Online Course
The next Canvas production update, scheduled for April 15th, focuses primarily on New Quizzes.
We did want to share that the Webcourses@UCF Gradebook got a new feature in a recent update. When you enable the Split Student Names option in the gradebook settings, you will be able to sort students by their first name or by their last name. In the Gradebook, hover over the Student Name column header and select the Options icon [1]. To sort students, select the Sort by link [2].
Beginning Monday, May 8th, UCF will add an extra layer of security to Webcourses@UCF using multi-factor authentication (MFA). Refer to the UCF IT Knowledge Base article "Webcourses MFA Enrollment and Sign-In Options" (KB0013963) for more information.
Getting Started with New Quizzes

Accessibility Tip
How About UDOIT?
Improve Your Course Accessibility
The concept of the Universal Design Online content Inspection Tool, or UDOIT (pronounced, “You do it,”) was first pitched at CDL’s Hack Day in Spring 2013. The idea was to enable instructors to self-review and improve their content in Webcourses@UCF, so students could have better access. The Techrangers developed UDOIT into a Canvas LTI reality, and over the years they have created remarkable enhancements including the U FIX IT tool. The latest version developed by Cidi Labs takes UDOIT even further to evaluate and remediate common accessibility issues.
You can find the UDOIT app in Webcourses@UCF on the Faculty Tools page. To a new UDOIT user, evaluating an entire course may be overwhelming. However, a UDOIT report can be narrowed to wherever an instructor usually places content, like Pages, to make improvements more manageable.
So, how about UDOIT today? Watch the Introduction to UDOIT 3.0 video. Contact your instructional designer or Webcourses@UCF Support for assistance using UDOIT to make your course accessible for your students.
Empowering Faculty to Leverage Educational Technology
Join Us April 14!
You’re invited to the inaugural Digital Learning Day on Friday, April 14, 2023. In-person attendance registration has closed but a remote attendance option is still available.
This new and exciting event from the Division of Digital Learning (DDL) is intended to showcase innovative work being conducted by UCF faculty and DDL staff. It is for all UCF faculty and aimed at empowering them to leverage educational technology, tools, and resources in support of UCF’s mission.
Are you planning research or course-related activities this summer? The Faculty Multimedia Center (FMC) has you covered. We offer field recording equipment for checkout as well as trained professionals bookable for training. We have everything from 360-degree cameras, still and video cameras, hybrid study abroad kits, and more. Equipment checkouts are available from a single day to multiple weeks. We are currently investigating additional equipment purchases, so now is a good time to meet with to discuss your needs. The FMC, powered by CDL, supports ALL faculty across UCF with no bearing on course modality.
One of the biggest challenges for students and teachers of online courses emerges when the technology isn’t working! Check out Use Current Technology for tips on ensuring that the technology tools you are using are up-to-date, and if they are not, which alternatives to consider.
As you continue to look for ways to improve your online and blended courses, check out the other posts in Design with Quality in Mind, a growing collection brief articles based on UCF’s Quality and High-Quality Course Reviews, that describe ways to support all students to succeed in your online courses.
UCF's Quality & High Quality Course Designations
Recognizing Faculty with New Quality Designations
We are pleased to recognize the December 2022 – March 2023 UCF faculty who have earned a Quality and/or High Quality designation for at least one of their online or blended courses.
Faculty who have engaged in the course review process cite smoother navigation, less student confusion, and heightened accessibility of course materials as just a few benefits experienced.
