Gradebook
Give Every Assignment a Grade
If a student doesn’t submit an assessment and you don’t enter a zero grade, their final grade will be calculated as if they’d achieved 100% on said assessment. At this point in the semester, the easiest way to assign a zero grade to missing assignments is to use the Set Default Grade function, which allows you to give all students who haven’t submitted the assignment the same grade at once. Just type the default grade value of zero in the Grade Value field. By default, the Overwrite already-entered grades checkbox is not selected to preserve already entered grades. For set-by-step instructions, see the Canvas Guide: How do I set a default grade for an assignment? If you have questions or need assistance with the Gradebook, please contact Webcourses@UCF Support.

What's New with Webcourses@UCF
This Weekend's Update Includes Limited Features:
Nothing new to report. This month’s Canvas (Webcourses@UCF) update is very limited and primarily focuses on administrative features of Canvas. View the November 21, 2020 Canvas Release Notes. |
You can upload your final grades directly from Webcourses@UCF to the myUCF grade roster. However, you must have a grading scheme enabled in your Webcourses@UCF course before doing so. This video on Grading Schemes will show you how to enable a grading scheme for your course as well as your assignments. |

“Thrive Online” Book Discussion
Scheduled for Spring Semester, 2021
Don’t just survive online. Make it your goal to “Thrive Online!”
During the spring 2021 term, let’s group-up for four sessions to discuss the ideas presented in Shannon Riggs’ 2019 book Thrive Online. The first member of the teaching faculty to sign-up (and show up!) and the first instructional designer to sign-up (and show up!) will each receive a free print version of the book! (Everyone else buys their own copy.)
Kelvin will be facilitating the discussion sessions. See the dates, express interest, or sign-up using the link below.
