The Summer term is a great time to reflect on your goals. Tackle those projects that have been waiting on your To-Do list; create something new or dust off the old content of your course by enhancing it and making it look new.

For example, if the content of your Special Programs course is text heavy, incorporate engaging content like relevant graphics, tables, Materia widgets, or videos. If your course has assessments, now is the time to learn about New Quizzes.

Effective June 1, 2022, all new Special Programs course shells will have New Quizzes enabled. As we prepare for the transition from our classic quizzing tool in Webcourses@UCF, we want to keep Special Programs course owners informed to ensure a seamless experience. If you would like help with migrating to New Quizzes, please send an email to iDev@ucf.edu with the subject line "New Quizzes."

In the March issue of The Special we introduced the ADDIE model to help you with designing and developing effective content and activities for your Special Programs courses. We specifically emphasized the first “D” of ADDIE model and hopefully you got a chance to design an outline of your course to support you in the next phase of developing the learning content for your course.  

Now we are going to discuss the second D: The Development phase of ADDIE model. In the development phase we start by creating the learning content that you outlined on the previous step to place on Webcourses@UCF shell.  

For example, if you wanted a banner for the home page, now is the time to develop the graphics by using a free development tool such as Adobe Express or Canva, or if you want to create a video to welcome your learners, this is the time to develop the content for the video, then you can upload it into your course.  

In the development phase of your course you may want to review the resources from the Essentials of Webcourses@UCF to help you navigate each tool available to you. For example, you can review how to: 

• Create and manage pages/modules  
• Learn how to manage files
• Use the rich content editor 
• Develop accessible content

Remember that Webcourses@UCF allows you to collaborate with your team if you enroll them as teachers on your course. It is convenient to have everything all in one place within Webcourses@UCF, while you and your team are developing the content and organizing the material within the pages in your course. 

Use the Webcourses@UCF platform to review, edit, test, and track changes to your prototype. Once you and your team are satisfied with your masterpiece course then you are ready to publish your course and start implementing the training.
