As we approach the 2020-2021 academic year with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, flexibility is crucial. To ensure we follow guidelines for physical distancing and continue to deliver quality instruction, UCF has created a BlendFlex Model as a delivery strategy for select courses that have face-to-face components (P, M, etc.). In these instances, the classroom sessions will be live-streamed and recorded for later online viewing for students who did not physically attend. Minor adjustments in teaching practices will need to be made to promote an equitable experience for all students, whether they are attending remotely or in-person on any given day. Not every Fall course with a face-to-face component will utilize BlendFlex, and there is not a “one size fits all” approach to courses that incorporate the model. It is designed to be flexible, so that it can meet the needs of the particular course, the number of students, and the available classroom space. Please consider the following: - The BlendFlex model is intended to support our students by providing more flexible options that promote the quality and equity of the course experience.
- The BlendFlex model provides the foundation for a move to a fully remote learning experience for one person or a whole class, should that become necessary.
The Center for Distributed Learning and the Office of Instructional Resources have created an online, self-paced course that should take around an hour to complete. This course will give you an overview of how this model will be used at UCF, address questions you may have about its implementation, and identify considerations in teaching practices. It also contains a helpful guide of tools, technologies, and strategies for applying this model in your course. |
