Today’s Kelvin's Corner resource is a Let’s Talk Teaching podcast from the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology at Illinois State University. This 24-minute episode, titled “The Successful First Day of Class” features a conversation between hosts Claire Lamonica and Jim Gee, where they discuss the ideal successful first day of class -- which should be so much more than “Syllabus Day” -- and provide advice for setting expectations, establishing the culture of your class, and laying the groundwork for an enthusiastic and productive semester.
Kelvin Thompson is the Executive Director for the Center for Distributed Learning. He is always finding, sharing, recommending interesting and insightful resources about teaching and learning.
