Faculty Colleagues:
You are receiving this message because you are credentialed to design, develop, and teach M courses. You are also currently scheduled to teach one or more P or V1 course sections during the Spring 2021 academic term.
At the provost's direction, in response to guidance from the SUS Board of Governors to increase the number of courses with a face-to-face presence for Spring 2021, the Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) is prepared to expedite support for the conversion by qualified faculty of currently scheduled P/V1 course sections to the M (mixed-mode) modality. As you know, a P course section converted to one or more M sections will increase the teaching capacity in our COVID-limited classroom spaces while imposing a more structured pedagogical course design than utilizing BlendFlex attendance strategies. Additionally, moving from V1 sections to M sections will increase on-campus instructions in a high-quality modality while maintaining safety requirements.
To assist you in this quick turnaround for an M redesign of a P or V1 course, CDL is preparing a series of expedited support opportunities for faculty with existing credentials to design M courses. These opportunities are reserved for faculty/courses that have been nominated by department chairs/school directors by end of business October 28th. The schedule will need to reflect these modality changes no later than October 30th so that the information is accurate for students when they begin registration.
Participating faculty will be eligible to participate in the new Blended Quality Review to potentially earn a Quality designation for the new M course. The procedure for M course quality evaluation is at: https://cdl.ucf.edu/services/instructional/ucf-quality-initiative/quality-blended-review/.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact your department chair or school director immediately to confirm suitability of the conversion for departmental/college course schedule plans. Chairs/directors have already been informed of this opportunity and will be the authorities submitting faculty/courses to CDL for follow-up. (CDL will contact each confirmed faculty member with a CC to chair/director.)
Please route specific concerns/questions to your department chair/school director for coordinated follow-up with CDL rather than responding individually to this message.
We have a very short timeline to implement schedule changes for these conversions, and we appreciate your consideration and involvement in this initiative.
