What to Expect at AVID

This second AVID event will focus on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology through guest speaker's sharing their research in small sessions and provide an opportunity for participants to experience the technology and space itself. This event will focus heavily on networking by allowing participants to walk around the space and interact directly with guest speakers. The event will end with a short group discussion.

Augmented Reality vs. Virtual Reality

Augmented Reality (AR) is an interactive experience that merges the physical world with computer-generated information. Digital information overlaps with real-world objects, altering one’s perspective on the real-world environment. On the other hand, Virtual Reality (VR) replaces the real-world environment with a simulated one. The digital simulation can be close to the real-world or be completely different as it is portrayed through VR technology such as headsets.
