With the intention of keeping our campus community safe, UCF has moved all classes to remote instruction, effective Monday, March 16. As a result, any face-to-face or blended courses (e.g., “M” or “mixed-mode”) will now be taught in Webcourses@UCF.
The resources on this page will aid you in making a smooth transition to remote learning as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPDATES
03/26/2020 – Library Services and ResourcesAll UCF library facilities have shifted to remote operations only. At this time, all loaned items have been extended to 4/30/2020. For questions about library services and resources, Ask Us! or view more information at https://guides.ucf.edu/continuity.
03/25/2020 – SARC is Here to Help!SARC (Student Academic Resource Center) is here to provide academic support and to help you transition to remote instruction! All of our services are available online, and you can connect with tutors, Supplemental Instruction Leaders, and academic coaches via video conferencing.
03/19/2020 – Remote Instruction to Continue through Summer SemesterUCF will continue with remote instruction through the Summer A, C and D semesters, which all start on Monday, May 11.
03/11/2020 – UCF Moving to Remote Instruction MondayOfficially, online classes continue as planned on Monday. All other modalities are canceled Monday and Tuesday and all classes resume remotely Wednesday. Establish Your Learning Space
Because UCF has moved to remote instruction, it’s important to make sure you determine how you will access your face-to-face courses in Webcourses@UCF. Do you have access to a computer, laptop, or mobile device? Can you connect to a secure, stable internet connection? Review the tips below for developing a solid learning space for your online courses.
UCF is Here For You
During this transition to remote instruction, you may find yourself in need of more than just technical support. Student Care Services, Knights Pantry, and Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) are available to UCF students. We encourage you to reach out to these services for the extra support you may need during this time. Read about methods for coping with COVID-19 provided by CAPS.
- Find a quiet, distraction-free area to access your online courses.
- Take any assessments, exams, or quizzes from a desktop computer or laptop. Avoid using the Canvas Student app or a mobile browser for these types of assignments.
- Use a secure internet connection when participating in live course streams through Webcourses@UCF Conferences, Zoom, or Panopto.
- Verify you are using one of the supported browsers for Webcourses@UCF. If your browser is not on that list, update your browser accordingly for the best experience.
- If your instructor is using ProctorHub for quizzes, test your webcam prior to starting a quiz.
- Download any Microsoft Office 365 programs you need onto your computer. Microsoft Office 365 is free to download for all UCF students.
- Locate any additional software necessary for your courses through UCF Apps.
During this period of remote learning, you may not have access to a desktop computer or laptop and will use a smartphone or tablet to complete coursework. Please consider the following suggestions if you have limited access:
- Download UCF Mobile, Canvas Student, Zoom or other student-specific apps from Mobile Apps @UCF on your mobile device.
- Older devices might not support the Canvas Student app, but mobile web access to Webcourses@UCF is still available.
- Use UCF-supported cloud services such as Office 365 or User Files section of Webcourses@UCF to sync course material across devices.
- Contact your instructor and ask if there are alternative ways to submit long assignments such as scanned handwritten papers or video/audio submissions.
Free Spectrum InternetCharter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.
Finding Free Digital Textbooks
During this time, students and instructors may find the need for additional course materials in the move to remote instruction. Enable Webcourses@UCF Notifications
With all of your classes online in Webcourses@UCF, it’s important to make sure your notification settings are properly configured. You can receive notifications by email, text message, or Canvas Student app push notifications, or a combination of all three. Be sure to add any additional contact methods to guarantee your preferred contact method is linked to your Webcourses@UCF account.
The university offers a campus-wide license for Zoom, a video conferencing platform for online classes, meetings, conferences, webinars, and lectures. Your instructor may choose to host online lectures or meetings through Zoom.
All UCF faculty, GTAs, staff, and students with an active NID have access to Zoom. To create a session outside of Webcourses@UCF, navigate to: http://ucf.zoom.us/. Use your NID and NID password to log in. If you need assistance, contact Webcourses@UCF Support.View Zoom Guides

No. UCF remains open and operational at this time. Check https://www.ucf.edu/safety/coronavirus/ for the most recent updates on UCF’s operation status.
Refer to your instructor on how any previously scheduled assignments will be handled. Review the course syllabus or Announcements feed in Webcourses@UCF for any updates on scheduled exams, assignment expectations, or course content changes.
For any course content-related questions, refer to your instructor. Your instructor may post updates in the Announcements tool, update the syllabus, or send communications via Webcourses@UCF.
Your instructor will determine the best plan of action for transitioning content to Webcourses@UCF. Some instructors may choose to host online lectures through tools such as Conferences, Zoom, or Panopto. Refer to your instructor for any questions about how content and lectures will be delivered online.
Refer to your course’s syllabus for your instructor’s preferred communication preferences. If your instructor has requested communication via email or phone, continue to follow that protocol. If your instructor has not specified communication preferences in the syllabus, we advise using the inbox in Webcourses@UCF.
If you feel that you are unable to continue with your classes as a result of COVID-19, please notify your instructors. Be prepared to provide any medical or travel notices as proof.
