Building off of the foundation and success of the <a href=\"\/ilab\/cri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Digital Learning Course Redesign Initiative<\/a> (DL CRI), DCI aimed to impact student learning by <strong>increasing successful course completion through digital learning innovations at scale through team projects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The DCI Initiative Structure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Seven faculty teams participated in the first 2023-2024 DCI cycle. UCF faculty who were <a href=\"https:\/\/cdl.ucf.edu\/teach\/professional-development\/credentials\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/cdl.ucf.edu\/teach\/professional-development\/credentials\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IDL credentialed or equivalent<\/a> were applicable to participate in this initiative. These teams consisted of both inter- and cross-discipline teams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How the Teams were Selected<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A selection committee was assembled with representation from the Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) teams directly impacted by the decisions made by said committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The process included three steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The selection committee reviewed proposals and identified finalists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finalists were invited to pitch their projects at <a href=\"https:\/\/digitallearning.ucf.edu\/digtal-learning-day\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/digitallearning.ucf.edu\/digtal-learning-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Digital Learning Day<\/a> for audience support and input, which were considered by the selection committee.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The selection committee then made the final selections of 7 projects.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of Projects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>DCI projects may have involved one or more of the use of the following types of technologies in pedagogically sound course redesign:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Personalized Adaptive Learning (PAL)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Augmented or Virtual Reality (AR\/VR)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>360 Videos\/Immersive 360 Online Activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bots<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI-enabled content creation and distribution (such as Chat GPT, AI Generated art, or AI avatars)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gamification or game-based learning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Building interactive open educational resources (OER) content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And other digital technologies that may be appropriate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supplemental Resource<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For those interested in their own initiative or more about the 2023-2024 DCI Initiative, the following document highlights key elements of this cycle&#8217;s process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"btn btn-primary\" href=\"\/ilab\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/DCI-2023-2024-Process.pdf\" role=\"button\">DCI Process<\/a>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Digital Curriculum Innovation Initiative Final Projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As the culmination of the year-long initiative, the faculty teams were required to submit a Summative Project Review consisting of two parts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A &#8220;Project Details Confirmation&#8221; documented which summarized the final, updated details of the courses impacted and technologies used as part of their project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A live, eight-minute presentation showcasing their completed projects in front of their fellow DCI teams, instructional designers, their chairs, and the Division of Digital Learning leadership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Under each team below is a link to their Project Details document and a link to the slides they prepared for the live presentation.
