Finding the right resources, contacts, and funding to transform your course shouldn’t be an obstacle for higher ed faculty members and support staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s why the Pegasus Innovation Lab<\/a> (iLab) was happy to announce the Digital Curriculum Innovation (DCI) Initative for eligible courses via the distance learning<\/a> (DL) fee in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With seed money provided through the Division of Digital Learning (DDL) Strategic Innovation Fund for fiscal year 2023-2024, we were able to support faculty seeking new and innovative ideas and projects for online learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DCI aims to impact student learning by increasing successful course completion through digital learning innovations at scale through team projects.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

UCF faculty and members of the Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) were invited to participate in this initiative to foster an innovation mindset and build a professional community of practice around online education. While the DCI cycle is currently on hold, more information about the next cycle will be posted here as soon as it is available. In the meantime, details about the 2023-2024 cycle are provided below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History of Online Initiatives at CDL<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Between 2018-2022, iLab at CDL oversaw the Digital Learning Course Redesign Initiative<\/a> (DL CRI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of this initiative was to impact student learning by increasing successful course completion (reduced DFW rates – D\/F\/Withdraw), particularly in GEP & STEM courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, we sought to improve FTIC & Transfer student persistence through a strategic course redesign process that leverages the benefits of online, blended, adaptive, and active learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building on the success and momentum of previous innovative projects, and at the direction of the UCF Board of Trustees, the Pegasus Innovation Lab (iLab) manage this DCI initiative to make strategic investments in curriculum level digital innovation projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our initiative has aimed to remove barriers to student access through the implementation of large-scale digital innovation beyond course redesign and also to increase program level adoption of personalized adaptive learning<\/a> (PAL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DCI 2023-2024 Projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Initiative Evaluation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Through the assistance of DDL’s Research Initiative for Teaching Effectiveness<\/a> (RITE), a final survey was conducted to evaluate whether the DCI Initiative achieved its original objectives by gathering feedback from participants on their project progression, the overall impact of the initiative on their courses, and their experiences with the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\nView Report<\/a>\n\n\n\n
